Partners
In the first effort of its kind, ABC and the European Blood Alliance (EBA), a network of national and regional blood organizations, have agreed to work together to improve the safety, value and adequacy of the blood supply in countries in which they operate.
In 2005, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which outlines areas of cooperation, including actively working with FDA and EU regulators to harmonize rules and to identify and share best practices and share information of use to blood centers on both sides of the Atlantic.
Alliance of Blood Operators
In 2005, ABC joined with the American Red Cross, Australian Red Cross, Canadian Blood Services and the EBA to form the Alliance of Blood Operators (ABO). As part of the coalition, the members of the ABO are pursuing international benchmarking, global disaster planning, harmonization to assure speedy access to new technology, finding the next generation of IT systems and developing international mechanisms for decisionmaking processes that will promote safe and high quality blood products.
