"There's Something in the Air!" Joint Gala with World Federation of Hemophilia-USA

The Foundation for America's Blood Centers (FABC) teamed up with the World Federation of Hemophilia USA (WFH USA) in November 2013 for the "There's something in the air-an uplifting evening benefitting the FABC and WFH-USA" gala at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Ariz.  The event raised more than $70,000, which the two organizations split evenly. 

The evening featured a reception, silent auction, dinner, live music, dancing and the chance to board hot air o to view the sunset.

4th Annual Links for Life Golf Tounament

The 4th Annual Links for Life Golf Tournament took place in March 2014, in conjunction with the America's Blood Centers Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, Calif.  Hosted by Blood Systems and LifeStream, 64 golfers took advantage of the opportunity to hit the links at scenic Desert Willow Golf Resort. After a challenging and invigorating 18 holes, participants enjoyed a luncheon and awards presentation.

Celso Bianco, MD Lecture Series Endowment

The FABC established the Celso Bianco, MD Lecture Series Endowment campaign to honor Doctor Bianco's contributions to transfusion research, blood, and donor safety during his 40-plus year career. More than $42,000 have been raised to fund the search, travel, and lodging for a leading physician or scientist to speak on an emerging issue related to transfusion medicine. Carter BloodCare President and CEO Doctor Merlyn Sayers, was the inaugural speaker for the lectureship series, with his presentation "The Bianco Decades: From Scientist to Statesman".   

The FABC Awards over $130,300 in Grants

The FABC supported America's Blood Centers' initiatives on behalf of its member blood centers and member grants totaling $130,300. The FABC received a number of quality applications from members this year. The applications were reviewed by an independent grants committee that selected the following proposals as the grant awardees.

 The member-focused initiatives supported by the FABC on behalf of America's Blood Centers included the specialty workshop scholarships, enhancements of AmericasBlood.org and the redesign of the Members website.
